| was founded in 1982 when Philip Kapleau-roshi
visited Stockholm. We are part of "The Cloud-Water Sangha" founded
by Roshi Kapleau’s successor Bodhin Kjolhede-roshi. The Cloud-Water Sangha consists of Rochester Zen Center, Chicago Zen Center, Zenbuddhistiska Samfundet, Casa Zen in Mexico and Auckland Zen Centre in New Zealand. It is an informal association of centers in Kapleau-roshi's tradition. Zenbuddhistiska samfundet is led by Sante Poromaa-sensei and Kanja Odland-sensei and follows the tradition of Japanese zen master Sogaku Harada Roshi. We also have an order called "The Three Jewel's order". Members of the order undertake a three-year period of study, in addition to their many years of zen training, before becoming ordained. Together with the teachers, members of the order have responsibility for running activities organised by the Zenbuddhistiska Samfundet. We have full-time zen training at Zengården, our training temple near Arboga, and we also have centers in Göteborg, Lund, Helsinki and Stockholm, as well as zen groups in Umeå and Uppsala. As a member of Zenbuddhistiska Samfundet, one can participate in zazen (zen meditation) at our centres, learn about buddhist teaching, receive guidance in one's practice and participate in different kind of ceremonies and other events. We offer introductions to zazen for beginners, arrange lectures and courses, one-day sittings and sesshins (retreats). We also have 3-5 sittings per week at the local centers. Zenbuddhistiska Samfundet is a member of Sveriges Buddhistiska Samarbetsråd |
